 Why Have A T1 Consultant?

Written by: Michael Fedeli - Jan 9, 2009

A Telecom or T1 consultant can show you plans and pricing from many different companies, much like a real estate broker can show you many properties and help you find the one that best meets your needs. A small business with two or three phone lines and a few computers online would probably not benefit from a telecom consultant because you could do the research yourself and with such small usage you would probably not get a price break from the service provider.

If reliable voice and data communications are the life blood of your business a T1 consultant is a valuable asset. If your business communications require a T1 line or higher a consultant is almost a requirement. I say almost because, sure you could deal directly with a T1 service provider and they will treat you great... just like a car salesman will treat a potential customer.

With a consultant who has contacts with multiple T1 providers in your area you are much more likely to get the service that fits your exact needs for a price that you could not get if you went to that provider directly. A good telecom or T1 consultant will first discuss your needs with you and then present you with the plans that best meet those needs. If there are still issues that your are unsure of he/she may offer a conference call involving your company, your consultant and the service provider. A professional telecom consultant is not happy until you, the customer is satisfied with the price and have had all of your questions answered.

OK, but what about after the sale? A good telecom consultant will help with the paperwork. Stay in contact during provisioning and install. Follow up a few times a year just to make sure everything is OK. And finally, be there for you in 2 or 3 years when your contract is up to again help you with prices and the providers.
