| Reliable T1 Line Prices from Multiple Providers. |
Written by: Michael Fedeli - Dec 4, 2008 Cable or T1 for VoIP? Here is an actual e-mail exchange (edited to remove names, and for brevity) between one of our T1 Specialists and a potential client. T1 SHOPPER: Requests and receives an instant T1 price Quote. T1 SPECIALIST: What did you think of my T1 pricing? Is this something your business might be able to use? T1 SHOPPER: I am looking into the cable company to support my businesses 4 VoIP lines because they are 25% of the cost. T1 SPECIALIST: You are right, cable is 1/4 the cost. Just remember this, cable is varying speed, it will fluctuate depending on the time of day and how many subscribers are using the service at that time. Download speeds are fast on cable but rarely get (if ever) above 512k upload speed, which is what you need for VOIP. Each VOIP line you install will eat up about 64k of data. If you are running 4 lines, that is 256k of data. I know from past experience with cable that may be the most you get on an upload speed. That takes your data down AND the quality of voice that you get from VOIP. Results are dropped calls. Also remember that time to repair from the cable company is their best effort. A T1 Line will come with 99.99% uptime and guaranteed time to repair of 4 hours. So, it all comes down to give and take and what you expect this service to do. Cable will surely be less expensive but you are giving up reliability and quality of service. A T1 will always be 1.5 meg upload and download speed, guaranteed! Just wanted to make sure you had the details on this. Any questions, Please give me a call! Well, (as I write this article) it has been about 3 weeks since our potential T1 customer has last contacted us (he is probably waiting for the Cable Company to show up). We expect him to contact us soon and ask for another T1 Line Price Quote and we look forward to helping him find the best T1 service provider to fit his needs.
